Final Evaluation
1. Look at your inquiry plan.
Look at your inquiry plan. Was it useful? Was there any part that was not helpful? How useful were your key words? What extra key words did you add? You must give reasons.
To be brutally honest I did not find the things in stage one helpful to me at all. I did not refer back to it at any point until I was now asked to. The key words were great and all but I did not find myself needing them as I was able to find all I needed within a couple of sites, some videos and a book.
2. Look at the information sources used.
Look at the information sources you used. Were they all useful? Give examples of the most and least useful sources. You must give reasons.
I found the information sources all very useful, especially one book: Storm out of Africa! The 1981 Springbok Tour of New Zealand. This went into great detail and I was easily able to answer the focus questions in detail due to this. I found all of the sources very useful and I used information from all of my sources. It was good having the clips from Close Up as they interviewed different people who gave their views and experiences of the tour, showing just how divided New Zealand was.
3. Look at your log.
Look at your log. Were there any gaps in your research process? Explain. Explain how well you used your time. How did you use planning to help your research process? What things would you do differently if you were doing this again? You must give reasons.
Is this referring to the log questions or were we meant to keep a log? I was never told to do this. Anyways, I did not find that there were many gaps in my research process, I found it easy to collect information, sort it and use it to help me answer the focus questions.
I think I could have used my time a little better, possibly using more time in class to complete this project so I didn’t have to do quite as much for homework.
I used planning to help me in this research process as it enabled me to have a clear vision of what I wanted to do and what I needed to do to achieve that. I was then able to go forward and know what I was doing, also doing it efficiently.
If I were to do this project again I would definitely just take a photo of the text I am going to use from a book. That is what took up most of my time; typing up the Storm out of Africa book. I then would have been able to complete the task a bit faster. Though a pro about typing it out was that I paid attention to every word and understood the text fully
